01. About

Philosophy

My grandpa always used to say, “Leave it better than you found it”. He would typically pull this phrase out when packing up from a camping trip, or picking up trash while on a hike. It stuck with me, and as I grew older I find that my understanding of what he meant has expanded.

In those moments he wasn’t talking about the campsite, or the trail. He was talking more generally about everything, about life. We should be leaving places, people, our work, our relationships, and the world in a better place than we found it. Not just once when we clean up and leave, but every day and every moment.

That’s what drives me. I want to leave the world better than how I found it.
